If you’ve just landed here, this page will tell you what KopiMoneyTalk is, who it’s for, and where to start.

What this site is

This is one Singaporean salaryman’s honest account of trying to build wealth for his family — documenting the real numbers, the real decisions, and the real progress, so that someone in the same position doesn’t have to figure it out alone.

Not a financial advice site. Not a product comparison engine. Not written by someone who has already figured it all out.

Just a working Singaporean in his late 30s — married, two kids, HDB, 12 years into a career — writing about money the way people actually talk about it over kopi. Honestly, with real numbers, as it happens.

Who this is for

You’re probably in the right place if:

  • You’re a working Singaporean in your 30s or 40s, doing the right things on paper but still feeling financially anxious
  • You have CPF, maybe an SRS account, some investments — but no clear picture of whether it’s actually enough
  • You’re facing a decision — property upgrade, investment choice, career move — and want to see how someone else reasoned through something similar
  • You just want a real person’s numbers as a benchmark, not a hypothetical

If that’s you — pull up a a chair.

Where to start

If you want the full story

Start with the founding post — who I am, what my numbers look like, and why I started writing about this publicly. Takes about 5 minutes to read.

If you want the real numbers

My net worth: 2020 to 2026 — six years of actual figures, what grew, what didn’t, and what I’m watching. Updated every year.

If you want to run your own numbers

The FIRE dashboard — enter your salary, savings, and current net worth. See when you hit $1M, $2.5M, and your own FIRE target. Takes 2 minutes.

How the site is organised

📖
The personal documentary — salary trajectory, net worth updates, goals, and honest reflections on the journey so far.
🧠
Specific financial decisions — CPF, investments, property, insurance, credit cards — with the real reasoning and numbers behind each one.
🛠️
Calculators built for Singapore — FIRE milestone dashboard, income tax estimator, and net worth tracker. Free to use, no sign-up required.

If you’re further along than me and spot something I’m getting wrong — I genuinely want to hear it. This is a work in progress, written as it happens, not after the fact.
